The desire to start my own business began almost 20 years ago. During those years, the search included a coffee shop, restaurant and bed & breakfast. I also completed the coursework to be an event planner, but lacked the confidence to proceed. I grew in confidence working for 12 years in a commercial kitchen while efficiently preparing meals in large quantities. Soon the dream started to take shape in the form of a teahouse.

The quest began in 2003. Any building in Western New York with a "for sale" sign piqued my interest including store fronts, libraries, churches, grand old homes and small quaint homes. Some places had inadequate parking; others had zoning issues; still others far exceeded our budget. I searched and prayed. Worked and prayed. Cried and prayed. Finally in March, 2007, the Lord showed me a tiny, hidden, non-descript little place on Grand Island very near our home. It showed a lot of promise and my husband agreed. Thus began the genesis of SereniTea Cottage and Gift Shoppe.

As improvements begin and the vision unfolds, friends, family and well-wishers join us in eager anticipation. Even the dignitaries on Grand Island are enthusiastic.

My partner, Rosemary, and I look forward to welcoming you the area's newest tea shop. Come and see for yourself the Lord's faithfulness to me. The work continues and we are anticipating a grand opening late 2007.
